Delivery at scale

Multi-site IT Rollouts & Field Services

How structured planning, standardisation and field coordination turn complex multi-location technology work into a controlled programme.

A technology rollout across offices, retail locations or distributed sites succeeds when every location receives a consistent result without losing sight of local constraints.

Why multi-site projects become difficult

Each location may have different access windows, cabling, connectivity, stakeholders, device inventories and operating pressures. Small uncertainties multiply across many sites. Without clear standards and reporting, teams can complete activity while still leaving inconsistent configurations, missing assets or unresolved dependencies.

Site readiness

Confirm access, power, connectivity, cabling, contacts and installation windows before dispatch.

Standard build

Use approved configurations, naming, security controls and acceptance criteria everywhere.

Field coordination

Give engineers accurate instructions, escalation paths and the right equipment for each visit.

Evidence and handover

Capture installation results, asset details, exceptions, photos and sign-off in a consistent format.

A dependable rollout method

Discover and validate

Start with an accurate estate view. Confirm site lists, stakeholders, existing hardware, connectivity and business-critical periods. A pilot at a representative location can expose assumptions before the wider programme begins.

Design the standard

Define the target configuration, installation method, security baseline, asset process, testing steps and back-out plan. Documentation must be clear enough for different engineers to produce the same outcome.

Prepare logistics

Procurement, staging and delivery should be aligned with the schedule. Equipment should arrive labelled, recorded and ready for use. Spare stock and replacement processes prevent a single failed device from delaying a location.

Control execution

A central coordination function should track appointments, attendance, progress, blockers and changes. Field teams need a responsive escalation route so decisions are made while they are still on site.

Verify and transition

Completion requires more than installation. Testing, user confirmation, documentation and support handover should be part of the definition of done. Programme reporting should show completed sites, exceptions, risks and next actions.

Better rollouts are repeatable: standardise what should be consistent, document what is different and keep ownership visible from planning through support.

Typical rollout scenarios

  • Network, Wi-Fi and firewall upgrades
  • PC, laptop, point-of-sale and peripheral refreshes
  • Office openings, moves and closures
  • Microsoft 365 and cloud migrations
  • Site surveys, audits and asset verification
  • Security appliance and endpoint deployments
