3. Monitor every backup job

A completed schedule is not proof of recoverability. Failures, capacity limits, expired credentials and changed systems can quietly weaken protection. Monitoring and escalation should turn backup exceptions into owned support tasks.

4. Test restoration

Recovery tests confirm that data is readable, procedures are current and the expected recovery time is achievable. Tests should cover representative files and complete systems, with results documented and improvements tracked.
